GRANTS AND CONTRACTS (RECENT)
Principal Investigator: Rural mental health: improving evidence-based practices for depression. NIMH R34, RFA-MH-05-004, 2005-2009. The project’s aims are to 1) establish community mental health center infrastructure to provide an integrated depression care program; 2) evaluate the success of program implementation from the perspective of the patient, providers, and payer; 3) estimate adoption and maintenance costs; and 4) describe further adaptations to the program that may be needed to increase its ability to deliver evidence-based care to a depressed rural population.
Sub-Investigator: Tobacco cessation intervention study for persons with mental illnesses. Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, State Tobacco Education and Prevention Program Grant (Chad Morris, PhD, PI) 10/1/06-9/30/08. The project’s aims are to: 1) implement a pilot study testing evidenced-based tobacco cessation strategies for persons with mental illnesses at community mental health centers; and 2) compare the effectiveness of two enhanced tobacco cessation strategies to treatment as usual by mental health providers.
Sub-Investigator: Tobacco control in persons with mental illnesses-toolkit development. Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, State Tobacco Education and Prevention Program Grant (Chad Morris, PhD, PI) 1/1/06-9/30/06. The project’s aim was to develop a shelf-ready toolkit for tobacco control specifically designed for persons with mental illnesses.
Principal Investigator: Needs Assessment of Persons with Mental Illnesses for Tobacco Prevention, Exposure Reduction, and Cessation. Colorado Department of Public Heath and Environment 2001-2002. The project’s aims were to: 1) Identify needs, best practices and model programs for tobacco control in persons with mental illnesses; 2) identify assets, barriers, and resources in Colorado; 3) develop recommendations for service planning and funding.
Co-investigator: Program Evaluation of the Mental Health Ombuds Program in Colorado. Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health, 2002 (Chad Morris, PhD, PI). The project’s aims were 1) evaluate the performance and effectiveness of Colorado’s ombuds program for the mental health Medicaid capitation program; 2) develop recommendations to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.
