Why did you choose the Physiology Graduate Program?

I chose to come to UC Denver because my lab moved here. However I had the option to stay at my initial institution but chose to come here for a number of reasons. For one, it's Colorado (see future response). However, most importantly was the academics. The quality of work done in this department is very high and the types of things that people are studying here are much more in line with what our lab focuses on, opening the doors for numerous collaborations. Another motivating factor was the amount of resources available through this campus such as the many core facilities.

Where did you attend for your undergraduate and your major/minor?

I got my BS from University of Connecticut in Physiology and Neurobiology

What do you like best about living in Colorado?

Look straight ahead when driving west... that about sums it up.

What are a few of your favorites activities outside of school?

The pastime I devote most of my time to outside of school is rock climbing... another reason I chose to move out here. The Denver-Boulder area is a climbing Mecca with world class climbing within a 30 minute drive. Colorado is also an excellent place to hike, run, bike, ski, etc. The best thing is that just about EVERYONE here has similar hobbies, so it is not at all hard to find a partner for a given activity. Fortunately, many people, this department included have a very strong work hard/play hard attitude.
