One Week Continuity Clinic Block
Four Week Inpatient Rotation:
General Wards at University, Denver Health, VAMC, Presbyterian St. Luke / Cardiology / ICU
Acute Care for the Elderly / Hepatology / Heart Failure Service
Four Week Elective or Ambulatory Care Rotation

Interns are scheduled throughout the year alternating one week of continuity clinic with four weeks of an inpatient rotation. This schedule minimizes conflicting inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, allowing interns to focus primarily on one educational endeavor at a time. We think this optimizes each learning experience – both in the outpatient and inpatient realm. We also believe this schedule enhances the continuity clinic experience by allowing for greater familiarization with the clinic setting, which becomes an educational home throughout residency.

*Geriatrics is a full month for PC residents done in either PGY1 or PGY2 year.

Didactic sessions held every Wednesday AM during ambulatory months of R2 and R3 years
All residents assigned to A or B block schedule.

The "W" months are months when mandatory Wednesday morning education sessions will occur. This is also an elective month and vacations are allowed.  The “N” months are ICU/Ward months when residents will not participate in Wednesday sessions.  No vacations are allowed during this time.

Once assigned to the specific block you will stay on this block for both the R2 and R3 year.  The tables indicate how the blocks rotate in order to accommodate holiday scheduling.
