DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH INTERESTS

Oxidant Lung Injury/Acute Lung Injury
Respiratory Physiology
I have two main areas of research that relate to the mechanisms of oxidant injury and respiratory physiology. In the first, we are using the reverse genetic tools available in yeast to model mechanisms of oxidant injury and oxygen regulated gene expression. In the second, we are characterizing the human molybdenum hydroxylase multi-gene family, a group of oxygen free radical generations that have been linked to several free radical diseases in humans. We are exploring the pathobiological consequences of free radical generation from the MH genes in lung and other organ systems.
