Our fellows are inquisitive scientists, compassionate, skilled physicians, and outstanding teachers. Our faculty come from diverse backgrounds, have wide-ranging interests and a passion for educating young hematologists and oncologists. Their research is at the cutting edge of oncology and hematology and they are anxious to engage you in their quest. Our program offers the environment and educational resources to help each trainee reach his/her goals and thrive in his/her career path, and we hope you will take the time to explore it further.

The goal of the University of Colorado Denver Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program is to provide an excellent foundation upon which to train physicians who will provide excellence and compassion in the arena of cancer care. We strive to educate medical oncologists and hematologists who will be world leaders in research and teaching while they using their professional, technical, cognitive and attitudinal skills to provide the highest of quality care to their patients.


Our mission is to develop the future world-leaders in academic cancer medicine. We accomplish this mission by providing comprehensive education and training in clinical practice, laboratory research, and translational and basic science.


Provide an excellent foundation in the clinical practice of medical oncology and hematology based on a comprehensive understanding of hematological and oncologic principles and treatment techniques.

    • Provide the opportunity to participate in unique training tracks which include: clinical investigator track patient care research
        • disease oriented basic science research
        • bone marrow transplantation clinical and research training
        • AIDS malignancy research and clinical training or,
        • A Ph.D. in clinical sciences 
    • Foster a multidisciplinary approach to cancer and blood-disease care through participation in disease site oriented training with experienced specialists in hematology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, pathology and radiology.
    • Introduce collaborative clinical and research opportunities through interaction with our closely associated affiliates such as:
        • University of Colorado Hospital
        • University of Colorado Cancer Center
        • Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center
        • Eleanor Roosevelt Institute for Cancer Research
        • AMC Cancer Research Institute and
        • National Jewish Medical Research Center
    • Provide an environment to experience the fundamentals of laboratory research and participate in a laboratory based translational endeavor.
