Dr. Kristine Erlandson receives 2016 ACTG John Carey Young Investigator Award


The Division is very pleased to announce that Dr. Kristine Erlandson has just received the 2016 John Carey Young Investigator award from the Aids Clinical Trials Group (ACTG). John Carey was a young investigator at Case Western Reserve University. The ACTG honors the memory of John Carey by recognizing junior investigators who best exemplify the ideals of the ACTG and the qualities exemplified by Dr. Carey. Awardees have: made significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge about HIV and its complications in the clinic or the laboratory in ACTG-sponsored research; demonstrated a cooperative spirit with colleagues and commitment to service through participation in ACTG protocols and committees; and shown intellectual promise and commitment to advance to a leadership position within the ACTG. Dr. Erlandson is the recipient of an NIH K23 Career Development Award. Her research has addressed key questions about premature aging and other sequelae of chronic inflammation in patients living with HIV. She has made significant contributions to scholarship in the area of aging with HIV infection and the interplay between HIV and frailty as people age. (June 26, 2016).
