The Swing service is the HMG’s afternoon/early evening admitting and cross-coverage service. It serves as a central educational experience for the Advanced Practice Fellowship (APF), while at the same time allowing our other services to focus on afternoon clinical and educational activities. The service is comprised of a physician faculty member and an advanced practice fellow. There is a focus on education with a dedicated curriculum and time to teach daily.
The Nights service line provides 365 day/year overnight coverage. The service admits patients, performs urgent Internal Medicine consults, fields outside transfer calls and provides cross coverage for designated patients at night, while also continually expanding its educational mission through Advanced Practice Fellow (APF) and resident teaching and support. The Nights service is comprised of a physician and advanced practice fellow. There is a focus on education with dedicated time for teaching. Physician attendings also provide teaching and acute consultation to residents learners on during the evening.
Development of a formal Nights curriculum that addresses the unique learner needs at night in order to navigate after-hour care effectively and efficiently.
