I was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and attended Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma while working in the family’s oil and gas business. I moved with my family to Colorado in 1981 due to the serious health conditions of my son, and I worked part-time at the church we attended. I spent 10 years working in law firm as a legal assistant doing mostly dissolution cases working with clients and preparing financial affidavits for the court. I also prepared case books for different types of cases (much like a dossier) for judicial review.
My first contact with the Department of Family Medicine came when I worked with Sherry Holcomb on a child behavior study while I was working for Ambulatory Sentinel Practice Network. At the close of the study, Sherry recommended me for a position at the University of Colorado Hospital Family Medicine Residency. Hiring for the department back then was a little different than it is today, and I was soon swept in the back door and became the Program Coordinator of the newly-formed residency program. After four years of being the coordinator for our UCH program, I became the Appointments and Promotions Coordinator. I have served the department in this capacity for the past 11 years.
I have a beautiful family; Garry, my husband of 38 years, two children, and four grandchildren. I love being “Granny” and I delight in going to things my grandchildren are involved in and seeing them excel. Lately, we have spent lots of time at the All Star Cheerleading competitions and National Cheerleading Championships.
For the past five years, I have volunteered at the National Western Stock Show working in the horse barn. I am a church musician and enjoy being involved with my church family when I am not at the Department.
