The Breast Imaging section is located in the University of Colorado Breast Center, a multidisciplinary breast center at the new Anschutz Outpatient Pavilion, incorporating breast imaging, breast surgery, breast oncology, internal medicine, genetic counseling and specialized nursing. As a result of the proximity to the clinics, the radiologists in breast imaging enjoy a high degree of collaboration with other disciplines. The Breast Imaging Center houses two Hologic full-field digital mammography units (purchased 9/2008), a Hologic prone stereotactic table (purchased 6/2011) and 2 ultrasound units dedicated for breast imaging use. All breast MRIs are interpreted in the Breast Imaging section. All forms of image guided percutaneous breast biopsies and needle localizations, including mammographic, sonographic, and MRI-guided, are performed in the breast imaging section by our subspecialty trained faculty.
