As the sole major academic medical center in the state of Colorado we provide the highest level of tertiary care for neurologic disorders with outcomes that consistently outperform the national averages. We have flourishing radiology, neurosurgical and stroke services which provide for a high volume of diverse neuroendovascular cases including aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, elective aneurysm embolization, arteriovenous malformations, dural arteriovenous fistulas, tumor embolizations, intra- and extra- cranial atherosclerotic disease and acute stroke. As a division we perform greater than 250 therapeutic procedures per year in addition to a large number of diagnostic angiograms. Currently there are two practitioners performing neuroendovascular procedures, David Kumpe, MD and Joshua Seinfeld, MD. In addition we have a dedicated nurse practitioner who coordinates patient care.
The Interventional Neuroradiology/Endovascular Neurosurgery Fellowship provides the opportunity for a qualified applicant with a background in neurosurgery, radiology or neurology to spend 1 to 2 years, based on their background and career objectives, mastering the skills necessary to perform the most advanced neuroendovascular techniques. In addition to achieving technical competence it is expected that the fellow will gain experience in neurological critical care by participating in the Neuro ICU patient rounds as well as be involved in clinical and /or basic science research projects. With an ever growing patient database, basic science laboratory space and the recent addition of a neurosurgical animal laboratory there is an abundance of potential research opportunities.
