An Update on Bonding Agents: What, When and How?

Course Description
As a dental practitioner, you must make imporatant decisions on a daily basis with your patients regarding dental materials. Due to the large amount of new materials, these decisions can be difficult and confusing. This session will provide participants with guidance on new bonding agents in the market, as well as indications, contraindications and limitations of these products using current patient cases.

  • What bonding agent when? Review the guidelines for what bonding agents to use in different scenarios
  • Overview of the new 'universal' bonding agents and what they can do
  • Understand the limitations​ of bonding agents

Educational Method of Participation
This program is a self-study program and is planned for general dentists. The activity is a presentation with pre-recorded audio and should be viewed by the learner. Completion of a post-test with a passing grade of at least 60% is required to receive a letter of completion. It should take the learner about one hour to get through the material.

Dr. Fernando Astorga was born in Caracas, Venezuela and received his dental degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He earned is AEGD at the Universidad Santa Maria before completeing an implant fellowship at the University of Texas Houston. At the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, he completed and MS in Operative Dentistry. Dr. Astorga joined the faculty of the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 2013 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry.
