Target Audience
This course is offered to general practitioners, oral surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgery practitioners and residents. In this 60-hour course, an intensive review of modern concepts in oral and maxillofacial surgery will be presented by a faculty of nationally recognized clinicians from private practices and advanced oral and maxillofacial surgery training programs.
Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this refresher course, the participant should be able to use the most current methods to demonstrate the evaluation, management and treatment of complications including: orthognathic surgery, obstructive sleep apnea, maxillofacial trauma, patient assessment for primary cosmetic surgery, principles of advanced soft tissue preprosthetic surgery and implant reconstruction, dentoalveolar surgery, classification, incidence, etiology and embryology of cleft lip and palate, pathophysiology and strategies of the medically-compromised patient, clinical and microscopic characteristics of oral lesions, bone-grafting principles and surgical techniques of hard and soft tissue reconstruction, core concepts of anesthesia care, diagnosis of temporomandibular joint disorders, bacteriology, immunology, antibiotics, anatomy and surgical management of infections of the head and neck.

The University of Colorado School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 60 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. ​Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.


Method of Participation
This educational activity was planned for oral and maxillofacial surgeons and residents. Each activity is in video with audio format and should be reviewed by the learner. In addition, the learner completes a combined CDE/CME post-test and must have a passing grade of at least 70%. The learner also completes combined CDE/CME evaluation forms. It should take the learner approximately 60 hours to observe the video with audio. To obtain the CDE and/or CME credit, the learner sends in a completed post-test and evaluation forms and pays a $30 CDE processing fee.  ​​
