Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship: Programs

The Jake Jabs Center's entrepreneurship curriculum incorporate instruction, mentoring, and support from outstanding Business School faculty, as well as from outside professionals with expertise in new business development. Jake Jabs Center courses explore legal issues, social sector initiatives, new venture design, finance structuring, strategic web development, leadership, new product development and business plan creation.

Students learn from case studies, classroom instruction, and guest lectures featuring successful entrepreneurs and renowned business leaders.

Undergraduate Degree Emphasis

Do you want to start a new business, or work for an entrepreneurial company such as Google? 

An emphasis in entrepreneurship will allow you to sharpen your business skills and focus on business concepts that actually work.  

In addition to solid fundamentals, you will find a strong experiential component including great speaker events, incubation opportunities, student consulting experience, student-run venture fund, networking events, and the signature Business Plan Competition.

Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Minor

Since entrepreneurship is inherently cross-disciplinary in nature, students pursuing non-business majors can choose a minor in entrepreneurship, which requires 5 signature courses. These courses have been specifically designed to provide the fundamental business and experiential knowledge to the prospective entrepreneur, irrespective of discipline.

Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Certificate

The Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship is offering an affordable program in one of the fastest growing business segments in the country—Innovation and Entrepreneurship. All courses are taught by faculty from the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship at CU Denver. You will find many opportunities including scholarships, mentoring, and networking. You will gain skills that prepare you to start a successful business or become an entrepreneurial asset to an existing company.

Graduate Degree—Specializations

The Jake Jabs Center is pleased to offer Graduate students three specialization options, in Entrepreneurship Studies, Bioinnovation, and Technology Innovation depending on the desired area of interest. All options require the completion of four appropriate courses as indicated in the links below.

Additionally, if you complete the requirements, you  will be awarded an official University of Colorado Denver Certificate in either Entrepreneurship, Bioinnovation, or Technology Innovation Entrepreneurship.


A Certificate in Entrepreneurship gives you the ability to marshal resources to seize new business opportunities which have uncertain outcomes. It is NOT necessary for you to be registered in a Masters or MBA program to obtain this certificate and the only requirement is that you have a Bachelor’s Degree.

New Online Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Innovation

All it takes to get started is a completed bachelor’s degree. As part of the Business School at the University of Colorado Denver, the graduate Entrepreneurship program offers more than 16 AACSB International accredited courses that are open to both degree and non-degree seeking students.

The Online certificate is available to Degree and Non-Degree Students. Requirement include completion of 3 courses
