Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship: Business Plan Competition

Competitor Questions and Answers

If my business plan is for an international business, do I still need a federal identification number (FIN) for awards?

Yes, but this should not be a problem as a global business established in the U.S. would already be required to get a FIN.

Are there any conflicts with existing letters of support and guarantees to match funds with the eligibility requirements?  If I do have letters of supports would it help in this competition?

No, there is not a conflict as long as you have not accepted any official investment funds prior to the competition.  Including this information in your business plan may result in an evaluator scoring higher on certain metrics, but that cannot be guaranteed.

If my business plan is for a 501(c)3 not for profit, do prior donations affect eligibility regarding not receiving prior investment funds?

No, as a 501(c)3 donations will not be considered angel/investment funds.

Can one person be an active team member on more than one team in the 2014 BPC?

Are there any restrictions against running Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaigns before or after the competition?

For this year, we are not restricting applicants from pursuing these options.
