wellness programs are gaining momentum in businesses around the country.
Because people spend a large percentage of their time at work, the worksite is
an optimal place to promote healthy behaviors that prevent disease, injury and
illness. Worksite wellness programs used by large employers have been shown to
improve health, enhance productivity, and increase employee satisfaction and
retention. While a number of success stories are starting to emerge among small
businesses here in Colorado, small employers face significant challenges in
their efforts to promote health and safety in the workplace.
Center for Worker Health and Environment aims to improve the health and safety
of our region's workforce. With the support of an educational grant from
Pinnacol Assurance and additional private and public funding, the Center is
committed to designing an evidence-based approach to delivering recognition,
resources and assistance to small businesses that take action to build healthy
and safe workplaces.
Links ColoradoTM makes
the connection between small businesses and health by certifying small
businesses that satisfy healthy and safe workplace standards, and by providing
seed capital and onsite assistance to a select group of small businesses to invest
in and implement workplace wellness and safety programs.
