The Physical Education Academy is a professional development initiative for physical education teachers and principals to increase teachers’ quality of physical education instruction, students’ moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) in PE class, and students’ engagement in lifelong physical activity. The PE Academy provides schools with:

  • An evidence-based PE curriculum (SPARK) and equipment
  • Professional development in group settings including SPARK workshops, Academy Booster Sessions, and professional learning communities
  • One on one professional development for principals and PE teachers in school settings via master PE teachers called Site Coordinators
  • Sustainability initiatives designed to maintain gains in student MVPA and high quality instruction in PE class


 Students Will:

      Meet the new CDE Health and PE standards

      Meet national daily recommendations for physical activity

      Enjoy lifelong physical activity
