Energy Worker Health

The NSSP is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) "Former Worker Program," which screens former employees of national energy laboratories and nuclear weapons facilities for occupationally-related health conditions, such as chronic respiratory illnesses, hearing loss, kidney or liver disease, and certain cancers.

Pilot Projects

Each year, our organization distributes grants to support innovative projects that promote occupational and environmental safety and health (OESH).  We fund pilot research projects, which enhance our scientific knowledge about OESH topics ranging from air sampling techniques to agricultural injuries.  We also fund pilot research to practice (r2p) projects that apply scientific knowledge to real world problems.
