Le Anne Silvey


Le Anne E. Silvey, PhD, ACSW, LMSW is Associate Professor in the department of Human Development and Family Studies at Michigan State University. She earned her doctorate in Family Studies from MSU in 1997, with a cognate in Sociology, an MSW from Western Michigan University in 1984, and a B.S. in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University in 1979. She is an affiliated faculty member of the American Indian Studies Program where she served as Director for five years. Dr. Silvey is Waganakising Odawa, Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians and is a first generation college graduate. Her research interests center on AI/AN individual, family, and community development; health disparities; cross cultural practice across the lifespan; management /ethical issues in human services.
