Jennifer Elia

Jennifer Elia, DrPH, is a Junior Researcher in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health at the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine. Raised in Puna on the Big Island of Hawai‘i and of Native Hawaiian ancestry, Jennifer earned her BA and MPH from Yale University. In 2015 she earned her DrPH in Community-Based and Translational Research from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Her research focuses on understanding and ameliorating health disparities among Native Hawaiians and other underserved groups, particularly in areas of sexual, reproductive, and maternal/child health, using community-engaged and mixed-methods approaches. Jennifer is an advocate for reproductive justice and serves on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands.
