Preparing to Graduate

In order to graduate, undergraduate students in CLAS must complete the following steps:

  1. Meet with your CLAS advisor to review progress and pick-up an application. Note: Scheduling this meeting before/as you are registering for classes for your final term will help to avoid the busy time for advisors right around the start of the semester.
  2. Meet with your major/minor advisor(s) to confirm completion of program(s). Note: Biology and Political Science majors need to meet with their Major Advisor and receive a complete evaluation BEFORE meeting with their CLAS Advisor.
  3. Return the completed graduation application to the CLAS Advising Office, NC 4002, by 5 PM on the Census Date (last day to add classes for the semester).

Failure to follow the above steps may result in a delay in your graduation.

Commencement

Updates and information about Commencement will be sent to your UCD e-mail account after you have turned in your application. If you are forwarding this account please be sure your spam filters are off or you will miss important updates.

Graduation ceremonies are held at the end of Spring and Fall terms. Summer graduates are invited to participate in the Fall commencement ceremony in December.

Diplomas

Diplomas do not begin mailing out for up to 2 months AFTER commencement. Please contact the Records Office with any concerns about receiving your diploma.

Your diploma will include only your degree information (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science) and your major. Your option, minor, certificates are not noted on the diploma itself. Your transcript will reflect all of that information.
