Bio​

Dr. Bernard has been on the faculty at the University of Colorado Denver since 2007 and is a full-time Senior Instructor in the Department of Integrative Biology. Dr. Bernard teaches a variety of upper-level biology courses, including Immunology, Genetics, Virology, and Molecular Biology. In 2010, she received the award for "Excellence in Teaching" from the University of Colorado Denver, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and was selected to participate in the 2010 National Academies of Sciences and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Mountain West Summer Institute on Undergraduate Education in Biology. Dr. Bernard is the faculty sponsor for all biology undergraduates that participate in and earn credit for experiential learning through the Biology Internship course, BIOL 3939. In addition to teaching, Dr. Bernard sponsors several students each spring in the annual Research and Creative Activities Symposium (RaCAS) at the University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus and she is a member of the Teaching Effectiveness Committee within the Department of Integrative Biology. Dr. Bernard was also recently inducted as a student-elected Honorary Member to the Golden Key Internationl Society in 2012.

In her free time, she spends time training for marathons, skiing, reading and enjoying her family.
