As Dean, Daniel J. Howard provides essential leadership for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He is committed to improving both the educational and research enterprises of the college, while at the same time enhancing connections between the Denver metropolitan area and the university. He believes that it is important that prospective students, as well as their parents, understand the central role that a liberal arts education plays in equipping students to succeed in a variety of careers and in leading fulfilling lives.

John Wyckoff

ASSOCIATE DEAN - Planning and Initiatives

Associate Professor of Geography-Envrionmental Science

Dr. Wyckoff leads the strategic planning process for the college. This includes providing support for developing and implementing college signature areas and leadership for other college initiatives. Dr. Wycoff also oversees reappointment, tenure, and promotion processes for the college as Chair of the Dean's Advisory Committee. In addition, he works to ensure implementation of the college’s diversity plan. Additionally, Dr. Wyckoff handles space allocation and policy for the College.

David Tracer

ASSOCIATE DEAN - Research and Creative Activities

Professor of Anthropology

Dr. Tracer works to promote the research and creative activities of the faculty. His responsibilities include oversight of sponsored programs within CLAS, development of policies and programs to enhance faculty research opportunities and facilitation of research connections across departments, colleges and campuses. Dr. Tracer seeks to expand and enhance research and creative activities by graduate and undergraduate students and scholarly collaboration between students and faculty.

Jeff Franklin

ASSOCIATE DEAN - Undergraduate Curriculum and Student Affairs

Professor of English

Dr. Franklin oversees undergraduate curriculum planning and development, undergraduate advising, learning outcomes assessment, and course scheduling for the College as a whole. He collaborates with others on issues including implementation of the ISIS system, Early Alert, the Honors program, transfer agreements, retention, and student conduct and ethics. He interfaces with all groups on campus concerned with undergraduate programs, policies, and curricula, working to facilitate a high-quality and positive undergraduate experience.

Kuan-Yi Rose Chang

ASSISTANT DEAN - International, Continuing & Professional Education

Director of Chinese Language

Dr. Chang manages all college activities associated with international initiatives (particularly the International College in Beijing [ICB]). She serves as the liaison for all matters associated with the Office of International Education (OIE) and the office of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). Dr. Chang seeks to expand the current continuing and professional educational programs in the college by seeking new avenues and course offerings.

ASSISTANT DEAN - Budget and Finance

As Assistant Dean of Budget and Finance, Ms. Porter is responsible for overseeing the budget, finance and accounting functions in the college. The position collaborates with the Dean and the Associate Deans in the establishment and administrative leadership of all areas under the Dean’s authority. The Assistant Dean functions as the School’s financial manager and the Dean’s consultant on College financial policies and procedures. Ms. Porter also serves as college representative on numerous campus and system finance-related committees.

Carol Achziger

Grant Development Coordinator

Carol coordinates grants and contracts activities within the college. She acts as a liaison between those preparing proposals and the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC). Carol assists Principal Investigators (PIs) in the preparation and submission of grant proposals and contracts by interfacing with the PI and the OCG to ensure that all forms and submission requirements are met so that the submission is successful. She also tracks awards, facilitates report submission, and serves as a resource for information regarding external funding opportunities.

Marketing and Communications Manager

Tracy develops marketing strategies and implements programs to build awareness of the College, its professors and students, its programs and services. She manages internal and external communication for college activities, including lecture series, alumni relations, professional associations, events, and community outreach. Tracy also manages the development of college advancement projects for donor relations. She serves as the liaison to Integrated University Communications, the CU Foundation, and the UCD Alumni Association.

As the executive assistant, Karen is responsible for professional administrative support for the Dean and the College, managing CLAS Dean's office administration, scheduling, assisting with outreach efforts, planning and preparing for meetings and events, managing the Dean's calendar, and providing fiscal support for the Dean. Karen serves as the initial contact for the Dean's office.
