Professor of Economics

As Dean, Laura Argys provides essential leadership for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She is committed to improving both the educational and research enterprises of the college, while at the same time enhancing connections between the Denver metropolitan area and the university. She believes that it is important that prospective students, as well as their parents, understand the central role that a liberal arts education plays in equipping students to succeed in a variety of careers and in leading fulfilling lives.

John Wyckoff 

John Wyckoff

ASSOCIATE DEAN – Faculty and Staff Affairs

Associate Professor of Geography and Environmental Sciences

Dr. Wyckoff is responsible for the recruitment, mentoring, professional development, and retention of faculty and staff within the College. He oversees reappointment, tenure, and promotion processes including chairing the Dean’s Advisory Committee. For senior faculty, he organizes the College’s Post Tenure Review and convenes the CLAS PTR Committee. Staff mentoring and development initiatives are also within his area of responsibility. Dr. Wyckoff works with faculty and staff to resolve conflicts and other personnel issues and insures that appropriate University, Campus, and College policies are followed. As Associate Dean for Faculty and Staff Affairs, Dr. Wyckoff must interact effectively and collaboratively with other groups on campus that deal with faculty and staff issues. In addition to his responsibilities with staff and faculty, he oversees space planning and allocation within the College and represents CLAS at the Campus-level.

Interim ASSOCIATE DEAN - Research and Creative Activities

Associate Professor of Psychology

Dr. Allen works to promote the research and creative activities of the faculty. His responsibilities include oversight of sponsored programs within CLAS, development of policies and programs to enhance faculty research opportunities and facilitation of research connections across departments, colleges and campuses. Dr. Allen seeks to expand and enhance research and creative activities by graduate and undergraduate students and scholarly collaboration between students and faculty.

Jeff Franklin

ASSOCIATE DEAN - Undergraduate Curriculum and Student Affairs

Professor of English

Dr. Franklin oversees undergraduate curriculum planning and development, undergraduate advising, learning outcomes assessment, and course scheduling for the College as a whole. He collaborates with others on issues including implementation of the ISIS system, Early Alert, the Honors program, transfer agreements, retention, and student conduct and ethics. He interfaces with all groups on campus concerned with undergraduate programs, policies, and curricula, working to facilitate a high-quality and positive undergraduate experience.

Marjorie Levine-Clark 

Marjorie Levine-Clark

ASSOCIATE DEAN - Planning and Initiatives

Associate Professor of History

Prof. Levine-Clark brings together faculty, administrators, staff, and students to collaborate on strategic planning; diversity initiatives; continuing and professional education; and interdisciplinary teaching, research, and programming. She looks for opportunities to enhance CLAS outreach to Colorado K-12 schools and our local business and non-profit communities. She is the College’s liaison to the Anschutz Medical Campus, Metro State University and the Community College of Denver, the CU Foundation, and Alumni and Corporate Relations. Prof. Levine-Clark works closely with the Dean’s Office, CLAS Webmaster, and CLAS Marketing and Communications Manager to promote the college’s mission to be a leader in academic excellence and social responsibility.

ASSISTANT DEAN - International, Continuing & Professional Education

Director of Chinese Language

Dr. Chang manages all college activities associated with international initiatives (particularly the International College in Beijing [ICB]). She serves as the liaison for all matters associated with the Office of International Education (OIE) and the office of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). Dr. Chang seeks to expand the current continuing and professional educational programs in the college by seeking new avenues and course offerings.

ASSISTANT DEAN - Budget and Finance

As Assistant Dean of Budget and Finance, Ms. Porter is responsible for overseeing the budget, finance and accounting functions in the college. The position collaborates with the Dean and the Associate Deans in the establishment and administrative leadership of all areas under the Dean’s authority. The Assistant Dean functions as the School’s financial manager and the Dean’s consultant on College financial policies and procedures. Ms. Porter also serves as college representative on numerous campus and system finance-related committees.

Carol Achziger 

Carol Achziger

Grant Development Coordinator

Carol coordinates grants and contracts activities within the college. She acts as a liaison between those preparing proposals and the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC). Carol assists Principal Investigators (PIs) in the preparation and submission of grant proposals and contracts by interfacing with the PI and the OCG to ensure that all forms and submission requirements are met so that the submission is successful. She also tracks awards, facilitates report submission, and serves as a resource for information regarding external funding opportunities.

Marketing and Communications Manager

Tracy develops marketing strategies and implements programs to build awareness of the College, its professors and students, its programs and services. She manages internal and external communication for college activities, including lecture series, alumni relations, professional associations, events, and community outreach. Tracy also manages the development of college advancement projects for donor relations. She serves as the liaison to Integrated University Communications, the CU Foundation, and the UCD Alumni Association.

Karen serves as the initial contact for the Dean's office.

Grants Post-Award Administration

Harley spent his entire career at the CU Health Sciences Center (Anschutz Medical Campus) working in the Finance, Budget and Grants Management areas. He retired 10 years ago and contracted back to the School of Dentistry and the Department of Medicine as a part-time retiree in Grants Management.

CLAS contracted with Harley in July 2013 as a part-time Post-Award Administrator under the Associate Dean for Research and assisting JoAnn Porter with the following duties:
