Brenda J. Allen
PhD Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion
Brenda J. Allen (Ph.D., Howard University) is
the Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion and a Professor of Communication.
Her research and teaching areas are organizational communication, diversity,
and critical pedagogy. Among her numerous publications is a groundbreaking book
entitled Difference Matters:
Communicating Social Identity. Dr. Allen was recruited from Howard University
to the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1989 as an Assistant Professor.
Since then, she has been promoted to Full Professor, and she has served as a
Department Chair, Associate Dean and Associate Vice Chancellor.
Cathleen Angell is the Executive Assistant to the Associate
Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion. She has been employed with the
University for 7 years, where she worked with Employee Services and the Office
of the President at the CU System Office. A Northern California native,
Cathleen received her Associate Degree from Sierra College and also attended
the University of California, Davis. After moving to Colorado, Cathleen
enrolled at CU Denver where she graduated in 2013 with her Bachelors of Arts
degree in Human Resource Management. When not working, Cathleen enjoys spending
time with her two cats, travelling, water sports and running.
