Hamid Hadi is a current student at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. His major is Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a concentration in Molecular Biology. Upon entering his third year in his undergraduate studies, Hamid will continue to receive recognition for his academic excellence and community involvement through private scholarships such as the Riesher and Kingdom Enlightenment scholarships. His intrinsic desire to change the healthcare situation in developing countries is what drives him to excel in the field of medicine. In the summer portion with the Undergraduate Pre-Health Program (UPP) he will conducting research at the Institute of Health Research aimed at a variety of issues. His starting projects include figuring out a way to give a LBGT (lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender) a more comfortable environment to reveal themselves to their healthcare providers and to find efficient ways of giving elderly persons emergency care. He hopes that through the UPP, he will be able to acquire the knowledge base to recognize and eliminate healthcare disparities, starting from his home, the beautiful state of Colorado. Besides reading science related works, holding leadership positions in his local Masjid, and furthering his interpersonal skills, Hamid enjoys white water rafting in the rivers of Buena Vista, historical accounts, and biking everywhere possible.
