Beverly Etchey, a senior at the University of Colorado Denver, was born in Ghana, West Africa where she saw the results of poor healthcare and health procedures conducted in the villages of the country. With the goal of assisting children whose families are less fortunate in terms of health and finances, she plans on pursuing a career in Pediatrics. Her academic focus at CU Denver includes Biology, with a minor in Psychology. She currently volunteers in the Medical ICU at the University of Colorado Hospital, Project C.U.R.E, Alternative Spring Break and other activities that work to better the lives of the people in her community. Beverly joined the Undergraduate Pre-Health Program with the hopes of exploring the many facets of the medical fields as well as healthcare. The once in a lifetime experiences that UPP offers through the internship associated with the program, she believes, will be eye-opening in understanding what it takes to become a medical doctor and the health disparities she may come in contact with while working as a medical practitioner.
