Howe Qiu is a Chinese-American student currently studying biology in pursuit of becoming a physician. He is highly motivated by his passion to serve in rural medicine as a general surgeon. During high school, Howe became determined to pursue a pre-medical track after shadowing a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery preformed by a family friend and respected surgeon. Throughout his first year of college, Howe excelled inside and outside of the classroom. He was particularly involved with the University of Colorado Denver’s Student Government Association as a Freshman Senator, and with his internship, Medadvance, where he interned for the Scientific Education and Research Institute.
As a UPP student, Howe hopes to gain a better understanding of the roles of different professionals within health care as well as to gain experience through participating in research studies. For leisure, Howe enjoys dancing, working out, and having lunch with friends.
