Malik Atiyah

Undergraduate Pre-Health Program | 2012-2013 Cohort

Malik Atiyah is currently entering his third year at the University of Colorado Denver. He is seeking an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and a minor in Economics. He has achieved academic excellence which has earned him a position on the deans list throughout his undergraduate education. Malik is described as being an ambitious, sociable and kind-hearted individual. Some of his hobbies include working out, mountain biking, and reading. Over the years, he has developed a strong interest in dentistry through the numerous interactions, shadowing and volunteering experiences he has been exposed to in various dental clinics. Witnessing the need for care in many communities has strengthened his desire to reach out to undeserved communities, further educate himself about their needs, and engage in research to improve care in undeserved areas. In the future, Malik is devoted and highly passionate about treating underrepresented populations such as the mentally ill and cancer patients whose oral health is affected by their treatments. This program’s strong focus on topics pertaining to improving health care for underrepresented minorities along with providing clinical exposure will allow him to take his first steps towards accomplishing this goal.
