Brandon Sklar is 20 years old and is currently enrolled as a Junior at University of Colorado Denver, who is double degreeing in Biology and Psychology and is a participant in the BA/BS-MD and UHL programs there. What initially attracted him to being apart of UPP was the opportunity to be a part of a research lab on the Anschutz Medical Campus for the summer. But something very beneficial that surprised him after being a part of the program for over a year was the benefits of being surrounded by a group of individuals who share many of the similar passions as he does in the medical field. To be able to interact with future colleagues not only helps in terms of networking, but also in honing in on teamwork-related skills which are essential in becoming a physician.
For leisure, Brandon does a variety of different activities such as participates in a bowling league, plays ping pong, reads science fiction novels, as well as writes in a blog. His future aspirations beyond medical school are still uncertain, although he is leaning towards primary care.
