The Academic Technology and Media Production team provides support for academic technologies, multimedia and faculty training including training and end-user support for eCollege and Blackboard, video conferencing, web-conferencing, video production and streaming video.

After leaving a career in corporate training, technology and product development, David happily returned to the university. He found a home at CU Online, supporting faculty and helping build out the various training and support offerings CU Online provides to faculty. When not heading up the able academic technology services team, David works on his PhD in planning and design in the College of Architecture and Planning where he researches the question, "What makes a place fun?"

Before joining CU Online, Crystal worked in K12 as an Integration Technology Coach and middle school English teacher. Her experience with teaching and mentoring provides an excellent foundation for assisting faculty in developing and enhancing their online courses. In 2009, she earned a Master of Educational Technology from Boise State University and has a BA in English Education from Florida State University. Her interests include research in the areas of online course quality and student engagement. Crystal is also a Google Certified Teacher. During her time outside the office, Crystal spends the winter skiing and ice climbing and the summer hiking, biking and rock climbing.

Michael moved to Colorado to join CU Online from Ohio, where he has experience working in instructional design, web development, and multimedia production. He earned his M.Ed. in Career & Technology Education from Bowling Green State University. He worked for two years at Rhodes State College, supporting their Allied Health Program to improve their online and blended courses. He is interested in researching and building better, more learner-centered tools for online learning. In his spare time, Michael is a musician, writer, gamer and gadget 'geek'.

Before coming to CU Online, Patrick was an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology at Regis University. Patrick is a doctoral student in the School of Education and Human Development here at the University of Colorado Denver. He also has a MA in Instructional Design and Technology as well as the Academic Study of Religion. Patrick has been teaching in the classroom since 1998 and teaching online since 2003. He is currently teaching online in the School of Education. His research focuses on instructional communication, with a specific focus on social and teaching presence, in online and face-to-face environments. David comes to CU Online from Florida. He received his Masters of Information Science from Florida State University and has worked in online education at Florida State University, University of Central Florida, and Seminole State College. A lifetime geek, David wants to see technology not just improve education, but completely revolutionize it. When away from his (standing) desk, David enjoys Kung fu, gaming, and all manner of outdoor activities.

Zach Ornitz

Zach Ornitz is a visual storyteller who comes to CU Online as he nears completion of his master's degree in multimedia production, at Syracuse University. While enrolled in classes, he worked as an instructional assistant for the photography department at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Zach also attended Syracuse for his undergraduate degree, where he majored in photojournalism and political philosophy. Ornitz has had a career in photojournalism and commercial photography, working in those industries for more than a decade. His background in visual storytelling and academia will serve him in his new role at CU Online as the Video Production Coordinator, where he aims to increase the quality and quantity of campus-produced multimedia productions to enhance the educational process. In his free time, Ornitz is an avid skier and mountaineer who strives to meld his love for the outdoors with his photographic vision.
