The Section of General Academic Pediatrics has a long and distinguished record in improving the lives of Colorado's children through clinical care, community service, and advocacy activities.

  • Drs. Stephen Fries and Stephanie Stevens were awarded a Career Teaching Scholar Award for 2016 by the Department of Pediatrics, CU SOM.

  • The fall issue of CU Medicine Today​ features profiles of three recipients of research support made possible by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation: Melanie Cree Green, MD, PhD, Kristin Jensen, MD, MSc, and Lilia Cervantes, MD.​

  • Dr. Shale Wong was invited to serve on the National Advisory Board for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellows​. She will serve on the selection committee for new fellows and provide strategic direction for the fellowship training.

  • Dr. Brandi Freeman was Secretary of the House of Delegates of the National Medical Association​ (NMA) at the Annual Meeting and Scientific Session in Los Angeles, CA.

  • Dr. Edwin Asturias has been named President of the Board of Directors for the Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition.

  • Dr. Dan Nicklas has been appointed to a new role within the Residency Program, Director of Primary Care Education.
