University Launches New Homepage

August 15, 2011

Dear colleagues,

It is an exciting time, as we complete the next step in building the university's online presence and implement a major new piece of our rebranding.  If you haven't already noticed, this past week the university launched a new homepage and a redesigned Web site.  These changes are the product of over three years' research, study and analysis from several individuals in University Web Services and Integrated University Communications.

The site's launch is another significant link in a chain of successful online initiatives implemented by the university.  Recent successes also include an integrated advertising campaign and the launch of the SharePoint 2010 content management system – the tool used to populate our web site with content.

With the new homepage, we have and will continue to have the opportunity to improve and update our content and streamline users' paths to the information they need.  While none of the rest of our site's content changed with this redesign, it may bring to light content that is outdated.  I encourage you to review your site and take the time to make updates as we move into the new academic year.  This will continue to be an iterative process of improvement and as changes are needed they can be made.

I believe that we, as a university, owe the several individuals who build and maintain our online presence a debt of gratitude.  They are the front line in terms of presenting the new university brand to a worldwide audience, and the fruits of their labors are many people's first impression of the university.

Thank you, and here's to many more online successes.
