I’m pleased to announce that Raul Cardenas, Jr., PhD will be the next Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs with responsibilities for both the Denver Campus and the Anschutz Medical Campus. Dr. Cardenas will lead a comprehensive student affairs program including enrollment, student success, university life and the university registrar.
Dr. Cardenas has more than 21 years experience in educational leadership, having spent the last two and a half years at the University of Northern Colorado as assistant vice president for student engagement and dean of students. There, Dr. Cardenas created a new student affairs unit. He also has worked at Colorado State University and Arizona State University.
As AVC for Student Affairs, Dr. Cardenas will play a vital role in helping our students realize their full potential. Dr. Cardenas is an outstanding advocate for students and it’s clear from the time that I have spent with him that Dr. Cardenas will bring innovative ideas and processes to our enrollment management strategies as well as work tirelessly to improve student success, retention and the overall experience students whether they be new arrivals or soon-to-be graduates.
Dr. Cardenas will be joining us later next month, just in time for the fall semester to get in full swing. Please join me in welcoming him to the University of Colorado Denver.
