The Facing Your Fears (FYF) program is aimed toward youth with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders who need assistance managing anxiety symptoms that interfere with daily life. FYF is cognitive-behavior therapy and is currently offered in a group-setting although it may also be used in individual contexts. Parents are an integral part of the FYF groups and are asked to attend all of the sessions. A well-developed parent education component allows for the generalization of concepts and strategies learned in group to be implemented at home. This program was developed by faculty at JFK Partners. Training for professionals interested in delivering the FYF Program is available on request.
Social Skills Groups are offered for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders. They are 6 to 8-week courses, depending on age. The class formats varies depending on the goals of the sessions. We often combine direct teaching of specific social skills with interactive and fun activities, including creating video role plays and critiques, board games, outdoor games, team-building, art activities, and hobby and special interest nights. Parent participation is encouraged. The group is offered periodically based on requests.
