Speed Trial

Project Description

We have several projects that are ongoing.  In basic science we are investigating Novel Chemotherapy combinations to use in transarterial chemoembolization using a rabbit model of HCC (VX2)  We are also attempting to evaluate direct infusion of parenteral nutrition into the portal vein using a catheter that we have designed for this purpose.  Clinically, in addition to our participation in National clinical trials we are starting two clinical trials of our own. One is utilizing a catheter that prevents reflux in our HCC treatment protocol for patients on the transplant list. We hope to find if we are able to drive more beads into the tumors with a catheter than can affect interstitial pressure in the tumor as well as developing a pressure gradient at the catheter tip.  Our second clinical trial is prospectively assessing our ability to feed patients with gastrostomy tube placement 4 hours after placement as opposed to current clinical practice in which we feed after 24 hours.
