The purpose of the The Advocate is to provide students with information about campus issues and events. The newspaper strives to include good investigative reporting, feature articles and items of general interest to its campus readership. In addition, the newspaper is a tool to encourage and develop writers, journalists, artists and other student members of its general management and production staff.

The Career Center offers a full array of services to assist and guide students with understanding and leveraging their skills, personality, values, and interests as they choose an academic major and determine a career direction. Services include job search and strategies, resume development and writing, practice interviews, and salary negotiation. Students are encouraged to participate in career-related programs and services to plan their careers and gain the skills and experiences they need to graduate successfully. For employers, the Career Center offers many employment programs and services including online job posting, resume referrals, on-campus interviewing, career fairs, employer presentations, and networking events.

The Student Government Association serves as a voice for students. Similar to the structure of the U.S. government, SGA has executive, legislative and judicial branches. Executives are elected each year in the spring. SGA assists students with information concerning student clubs and organizations, campus events, issues concerning student status and other information of general interest to students. SGA also provides students assistance with grievances and the opportunity to become more closely involved with the university community through active participation in student government itself or through service on university, tri-institutional and Auraria committees.

​To assist students with their cost of attendance, a majority of students will need to borrow student loans. Students can borrow student loans up to their cost of attendance. The cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, books/supplies, living allowance and health insurance. Any student loan that will cause your financial aid award to go beyond your cost of attendance will not be approved.

Tuition and Costs
Tuition and fees at UCD have been established by the Board of Regents, the governing body of the University of Colorado, and is subject to change any time. Tuition is based on student classification (undergraduate, graduate, academic program, resident or non-resident).
Tuition Appeals
If you feel that you have an extenuating circumstance that justifies an exception to financial obligations, you may appeal and it will be reviewed by the tuition appeals coordinator.
Undergraduate Experiences
The mission of Undergraduate Experiences is to promote access for all undergraduate students to high quality and innovative UCD programs, to improve the recruitment and retention of undergraduate students for the Downtown campus, and to coordinate programs between academic and student affairs to better serve and engage undergraduate students.
Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program

​"UROP" funds students who are engaged in research, scholarly, creative and entrepreneurial activities in collaboration with university professors. Projects are designed independently by a student or team of students and endorsed by a faculty mentor or designed around the activities of a faculty mentor–great preparation for your career or graduate school.
