CU Denver Wellness Center Feasibility Study

CU Denver is investigating a possible Wellness Center designed for CU Denver students. Amenities in the Wellness Center concept could include, but are not limited to:

  • Student lounge- a place to relax, study, and socialize with other CU Denver students
  • Large weight room
  • Numerous cardio workout options
  • Large multi-use gym and event space (approx. 3000 seats)
  • Classroom and workshop space for wellness related activities
  • Swimming pool
  • Extra locker rooms for students and Club Sports athletes
  • Dance studios
  • Demonstration kitchen
  • Indoor track
  • Steam room and/or sauna
  • Rock climbing wall
  • Reflection rooms for prayer or meditation

Here is a video of a POSSIBLE design concept. This video was a marketing tool to familiarize us with the consultants; this is not an exact model, but a rendering of what the Wellness Center could look like. The CU Denver Feasibility Study is intended to examine what the Wellness Center will include if it is funded and built.

WE NEED YOUR HELP:

We are looking for CU Denver students, faculty, and staff to participate in focus groups during the first week of September to determine the level of general interest as well what to include as a part of the CU Denver Wellness Center Feasibility Study. For full details and to reserve your space, use the links below:

  • CLICK HERE to reserve your space in a STUDENT focus group on September 3rd or 4th
  • FACULTY/STAFF focus groups are full.  If you are interested, email joe.halter@ucdenver.edu and he will let you know if a space opens up
Share your opinion through the online Wellness Center survey.  Students, faculty, staff, and alumni should check their email on September 9 to provide their feedback

**If there is CU Denver student interest in a Wellness Center, it is important to note that the primary funding source would need to be a special student fee. The study would help us determine the viability of such a fee. The study will also help us determining if CU Denver students would be more interested in contributing to a renovation and expansion of the existing Auraria Events and PE Building, which, if successful, would likely need to be supported by a student fee distributed across Auraria's three institutions. The study will try to determine if CU Denver students are interested in supporting one project, both projects, or no projects like this. Lastly, the study is meant to determine if faculty and staff are supportive of this project, and if there is enough community interest so that external revenue could also support the construction and operation of CU Denver Wellness Center.
