Friday March 8th 2013
This conference will educate and inspire as we
explore the broad spectrum of intersections within the Reproductive Justice
Movement, including the themes of: health care reform, sex education, pregnancy
and childbirth, families, race, culture, gender, sexuality, media, the
environment, and sustainability.
Please visit our website for more information and to register for the conference.
We are pleased to announce our keynote speaker, Katsi Cook! A Mohawk midwife, Katsi Cook initiated the award‐winning Akwesasne Mother’s Milk project in 1981 to search for answers about toxic exposures and Mohawk women’s reproductive health. This biomonitoring project became central to a comprehensive multidisciplinary Superfund study in 1986. Published results from these multigenerational studies from the work of Akwesasne Task Force on the Environment can be found at Environmental Health Perspectives at www.ehponline.org. Katsi is the founding Aboriginal Midwife of the Six Nations Birthing Centre at Six Nations, Ontario.
