Student Health Insurance

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus offers health insurance through the UnitedHealthCare Insurance Company and provides a UnitedHealthCare StudentResources Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan. All students enrolled in a degree and certain approved certificate seeking programs taking 1 or more credit hours are automatically enrolled in this student health insurance plan unless a successful insurance waiver is submitted prior to the waiver deadline each academic year.

To waive out of the student health insurance plan, your personal health insurance must meet all of the requirements stated under Enrolling or Waiving Health Insurance to be approved. Waivers must be submitted each academic year before the stated deadlines. For new students wishing to waive insurance for the 2017-2018 academic year, the insurance waiver portal is open from December 4th, 2017 to February 9th, 2018.

Here you will find various forms sometimes needed to file claims along with the late enrollment form. If you have any questions about any of these forms or do not see the form you need, please contact the Office of Student Health Promotion at 303-724-7674 or

Find A Provider

Finding an in-network provider is easier than you think. You can search for both medical and behavioral health providers here to ensure that you are seen by an in-network provider.

It is each student’s responsibility to confirm if a particular service is covered under the student health insurance plan.

Prescriptions can be mail ordered through UnitedHealthCare Pharmacy. For more information please refer to the Highlights of Coverage section in the plan summary brochure. Information on Network Pharmacies is available by clicking "Find Pharmacy" on the United Health Care Student Resources Center or by calling Customer Service at 1-855-828-7716.

The previous University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Student Health Insurance Plan is an annual, full-service medical insurance plan tailored to meet the needs of students. The plan was underwritten by UnitedHealthCare and administered by AmeriBen.

How did it work?

ALL STUDENTS at the Anschutz Medical Campus taking 1 or more credit hours were automatically enrolled on our Plan A coverage (low deductible plan). The insurance premium was added to your tuition each semester. Once your insurance was active, you received an ID card as well as access to your account at where you are able to view benefits, download your ID card, and find a provider.

What about dependents?

The 2016-2017 plan did not offer the option of enrolling dependents on our student insurance plan. We recommend contacting the Colorado Healthcare Exchange to find suitable care. Additionally, the insurance providers below offer a range of plans in Colorado:
