University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
Ian is currently continuing his Public Health education in Epidemiology and plans to graduate May 2012. He has plans to apply to medical school. Ian is committed to working with the Non-English Speaking Hispanic community in the area of obesity. He is engaged with University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Ian is currently working on a project that involves health equity throughout Colorado. He is working along side Dr. Angela Sauaia to understand the relationship of health in Colorado counties that are stratified by income level. They are hoping to identify health disparities among different counties and different income levels for a wide range of behavioral risk factors.
Ian is also collaborating with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to design a research project to evaluate after-school programs. The goal is two fold, one to measure the efficacy of current after-school programs in Colorado schools; second, to share innovative and effective programming with other communities throughout Colorado. The idea is to make health in Colorado schools a collaborative effort with great programs written for nutrition, exercise, math, science, and other topics. After graduation, he hopes to attend medical school at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus upon completion of his Masters in Public Health. He would hopes to integrate his knowledge and experiences throughout my studies in Public Health with the service and responsibility of a medical doctor to provide a healthier Colorado.
