Gunilla Johnson

Biography:

I have taught in the ESL field for over 20 years, including six Intensive English Programs. I also have a background in foreign languages and have taught French, German, and Swedish part time at a variety of schools earlier in my career. I was born and raised in Sweden and went to the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, for my degrees in Languages Education. I was part of starting the ESL Academy in 2011, and I take a special interest in the pronunciation aspects of the program. Teaching in an Intensive English Program is intense but full of joy, especially because of the wonderful ESL students from all over the world. Free time includes reading, taking walks, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.

CONTACT INFORMATION:

"Very few Intensive English Programs in North America provide solid pronunciation and accent instruction to international students. The ESL Academy not only focuses on pronunciation in the more general skills classes but also offers a stand-alone Accent/Pronunciation course for all students going through the program. Students have been able to improve IELTS scores from 5 to 6.5 and from 6 to 7.5 in two months by taking this eight-week course."
