Shelby Shafto, Tamara Lhungay, and Kyle Callahan (pictured here, from left to right) attended the last El Pomar Student Leadership Experience (SLE) event of the year on Saturday, April 14th. Shelby (Anthropology, '13) recounts their experience:
"The last El Pomar retreat was both educational and fun. We began with a scavenger hunt on Colfax, where we were given clues to the location we needed to reach. When we got to each table, we had to answer questions and perform activities, such as jump rope, before we got our next clue. Then our group moved to the Auraria Campus, where we were given an issue for which we had to create a non-profit organization from scratch with only a $500,000 budget. After this complicated but fun activity, we enjoyed dinner with Gary Dixon. Mr. Dixon gave a presentation on his non-profit, called 'A Foundation for a Better Life,' which was highly inspiring. Overall, this El Pomar retreat was fun, educational, and a great experience to meet inspiring people."
