Going to Class

How do I log into Canvas?

Students can log in at, click on "course login", and click on "Canvas". To log in, students will enter their email username and password. Remember, the password is case-sensitive.

How do I locate my course(s) in Canvas?

Canvas will create a homepage for each student. Links to each registered course, as well as the free orientation course, will appear on each student’s homepage. To go to a specific course, just click on its title. Courses do not open until 12 a.m. MST on the first day of class, so students may receive an error message if accessing a course prior to the first day of class.

The didactic courses are set up in, generally, week-long “units.” Units usually open up at 12:00 AM, mountain time, according to the individual course schedules, and assignments are due at the end of the unit. The work for each unit can be accomplished at any time during the scheduled unit dates. The Distance Degrees and Programs Office recommends students begin working on each unit, or at least review what will be required for each unit, early in the week to manage their schedules appropriately.

How do I learn more about Canvas?

The Canvas Student Guide also provides tutorials to help students become more familiar with Canvas. Students can complete a Canvas orientation training session by reviewing the information found on the Canvas Student Orientation webpage.

How do I contact technical support?

Students experiencing technical difficulties while using Canvas can contact Canvas through a live instant message chat, phone or email. To contact Canvas, click on, click on "course login", and the "Canvas contact information" is located on the right side of the screen.
