Research in the Brown lab is currently focused on the health and safety of nanotechnology as it pertains to both occupational exposure and nanomedicines. We are particularly interested in understanding how engineered nanomaterials interact with the immune system to ensure the safe development of nanotechnology related consumer products and nanomedicines. Our research group investigates the role of innate immune cells, including mast cells and macrophages, in pulmonary inflammation & fibrosis, systemic immunity, cardiovascular toxicity and allergic diseases.
