The Movement Disorders Program is a subspecialty program within the Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado Denver. The program offers diagnostic services as well as treatment for a wide variety of conditions that interfere with the ability to control the movements of one's body. Some of the more common movement disorders seen by physicians in the Movement Disorders Program are Parkinson disease, essential tremor, Tourette syndrome, ataxia, dystonia, Huntington's disease, and fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome (FXTAS). Specialty procedures, such as deep brain stimulator programming and Botox treatments, are available through the Movement Disorders Program.
Drs. Maureen Leehey, Olga Klepitskaya, Benzi Kluger and Brain Berman are the neurologists who are the program's movement disorders specialists. All are accepting new patients. Dr. Leehey specializes in FXTAS, and was the initial neurologist to describe the disorder in 2001. For an appointment contact the UCD Movement Disorders Clinic at (720) 848-2080.
