I am a Colorado native and have lived here my whole life.  I pursued my bachelor's degree in BioMedical Sciences at Colorado State University in Fort Collins and had so much fun that I stuck around for an extra year to work on my Master's degree in Anatomy. I initially planned on becoming a veterinarian, but realized that having deadly allergies to animals made this a very silly life plan. Luckily, I fell in love with medicine in general, and am so happy to be a member of the class of 2014!!! In medical school, I co-founded the Education and Teaching Interest Group, and have really enjoyed getting that off the ground and running.  I married my wonderful husband the weekend before the first anatomy test of first year, and instead of having children we have two cats (pending residency being done).  They are bengals, named Milo and Steve.  I love to spend time with my family who is close by (15 year old brother and 21 year old sister), be in the mountains, read, watch movies, do yoga, pretend I am a photographer, and have fun trying new things.  Finally made the big decision and will be going into surgery! Other random facts: I was a gymnast for 13 years, I am tongue-tied, and have been a vegetarian for 12 years. And I am STOKED! to be a student advisor :)

Sarah Kolnik

I was born and raised in Denver. I went to undergrad at CU-Boulder and worked at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Peds Ortho for 3 years before coming to med school. I’m going into General Surgery, eventually with the hope of doing a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery. When people ask me where I see myself in 10 years, I can proudly say, “Finally getting a real job.” During medical school I have been involved with the Surgical Society, the Warren Village Healthy Beginnings clinic and have been a volunteer snowboarding instructor with the National Sports Center for the Disabled. I took last year away from the SOM to pursue a Masters in Public Health and obtain my MRS before joining the Class of 2014. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband doing many cliché Colorado activities. Riding/skiing, biking, yoga, triathlons, camping, hiking, playing with our chocolate lab.

Alia Broman

Non-medical school interests have been playing the viola in the Arapahoe Philharmonic, skiing, hiking 14ers, attending music festivals across the country, and playing with my kitties.
Frank Hall

My name is Francis Hall, but have gone by Frank my whole life.  I was born in Akron, Colorado, which is the in the Northeast corner of the state, on the plains.  A lot of people either scrunch up their face, or apologize for me in reference to growing as a flat-lander.  But it was actually very enjoyable.  Let me explain it to you.  Close your eyes, and picture yourself standing on a hill looking west.  There is a dirt road some 20 feet behind you, and the town of Akron a mile behind you.  In front of you, there are miles of rolling wheat fields and grazing land.  There are towering storm clouds that are dark at the horizon and dazzling white at their peak; ethereal cathedrals of nature that distort your perception of distance. It is peaceful.  This is how I remember my time on the plains, and miss those amazing storms and the ability to see the Milky Way at night. After high school, I went to the University of Colorado at Boulder.  I grew up loving the Buffaloes, and was excited to become one.  I enjoyed my time there immensely; being involved with the President's Leadership Class, where I met my closest friends; learning to appreciate literature in a men only short story club; pursuing my love of human biology with acquiring a BA in Integrative Physiology; and meeting my future wife. After graduation, I went straight to medical school without a break. I am going to do my residency in Internal Medicine, and am excited and nervous for that part of my life. Outside of my chronological story, I am a movie lover, a TV binge-watcher (1st three seasons of "Community"!!), a young-adult fiction reader (definitely read Twilight even though it was an awful work of fiction), and a wannabe traveler. Right now, I am excited to be a college student adviser for Uncompahgre!!
