Colorado Residency

Residency requirements are set by the Colorado legislature. Requirements for residency tuition are available at the registrar's website. Students starting the program as non-residents may apply for residency tuition for the semester after residency is established.

Financial Aid

Government loans and scholarships are available, but limited. UCD Financial Aid applications are available to accepted CHA/PA students. If financial aid is needed, applicants MUST file the FAFSA form available at most colleges and high schools in spring 2011. The Health Sciences Center financial aid officers will work with students in need of financial assistance once they are accepted into the program.

Scholarships

Henry Silver Diversity Scholarship: Scholarships honoring our founder, Dr. Henry Silver, was established to honor those students who contribute to the educational benefits of a diverse student body. Diversity is defined in broad terms. Scholarships are varying amounts according to funding availability.  Colorado Residents are given preference in determining this scholarship.

National Western Stock Show Scholarship: This generous scholarship is available competitively and requires commitment to work in a rural Colorado/Wyoming area for 2 years following graduation. The scholarship award provides $4,500 per year for a total of $13,500. It is limited to rural track applicants in the CHA/PA Program with preference of residents from Colorado and Wyoming.

CHA/PA Diversity Scholarship:  This scholarship award varies annually and is offered to a 2nd year student with significant contributions to diverse and needy populations.

CHA/PA Program Pediatric Scholarship:  This merit-based scholarship varies annually and is offered to a 2nd year student with a commitment to practice in general pediatrics or pediatric subspecialties.

The Colorado Trust Health Professions Scholarship Program:  Several scholarships are offered annually by the Colorado Area Health Education Centers (CAHEC) to assist enrolled graduate level Health Professions students by paying for a significant portion of their education.  More information is available at the CAHEC website.

Global Health Track Scholarship:  This scholarship is offered to students who are selected for, and participate in, the global health track.  Calls for application for the global health track will be made early in the 1st year for matriculated students.

Small scholarships are available from time to time throughout the three years for matriculating students. The PA Foundation, constituent organizations, and specialty organizations offer scholarships to matriculating students. In addition, other opportunities may be found through the UCD Office of Diversity and Inclusion or financial aid. While these scholarships are helpful, a student cannot depend on them for financing their education.
