Thank you for visiting the website of the Trauma Research Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
Our center began in 1993 and is one of seven centers in the United States funded by the National Institutes of Health P50 grant.
Trauma remains the leading cause of years of life lost in the United States. Severe injuries involving hemorrhagic shock, fractures, and other blunt or penetrating soft tissue destruction can continue to threaten survival even after initial stabilization of the patient.
Our focus is studying the human response to acute hemorrhagic shock and trauma. Our unique Human Subjects database details the risk factors and courses of multiple organ failure and provides provocative hypotheses for laboratory experimentation and human specimens for further refinement.
