Mel Anderson, MD (Interim Director)
Mel is from Houston, TX, where he graduated AOA from Medical School at the University of Texas. He completed Internal Medicine Residency training, a Chief Residency, and several years as an academic faculty member and Associate Program Director at the David Grant USAF Medical Center in Northern California before moving to Rhode Island for four years. At Brown he joined the faculty at the Providence VAMC as a Clinician-Educator and key faculty member for the residency program. Dr. Anderson joined the University of Colorado faculty in 2005 and is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine. Mel established the Hospital Medicine Section at the Denver VAMC, serving as its first Chief and as Associate Chief for the Medicine Service. After serving for ten years as an Associate Program Director, he has moved into the Interim Program Director position with great excitement and enthusiasm. Mel continues to lead the Clinician / Educator Pathway, Journal Club Classics, and attends on the inpatient service as an academic hospitalist at the Denver VAMC.
