Kevin Deane MD

Assistant Professor of Medicine

Dr Kevin Deane is currently working on a large-scale study to understand how genetic and environmental factors influence the development of rheumatoid arthritis, and how blood-based markers can be used to predict the future onset of rheumatoid arthritis. He is also investigating how specific areas of the body, such as the lung, contribute to the development of autoimmunity. Additionally, in cooperation with a Colorado-based non-profit health-fair organization, Dr. Deane is investigating approaches to screening the population for undiagnosed rheumatoid arthritis, and how such screening can be used to identify people that may be at risk for rheumatoid arthritis in the future. In his clinical practice, Dr. Deane is interested in the management of a wide-variety of autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

Research Interests:

My research interests are in the pre-clinical identification of autoimmune disease. I am currently involved as a co-investigator in a multi-centered NIH sponsored study investigating the relationship between genetics, environmental exposures, and the development of rheumatoid arthritis-related autoimmunity. In addition, I have special interest in building models for the prediction of future development of autoimmune disease.
