Performing Imaging Research at UCH and C-TRIC

Human imaging research can be performed at University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) and/or CTRIC, subject to approval by the Department of Radiology.  The Hospital Research Review Committee (HRRC) must approve of research studies performed at UCH and Radiology Department approval is required for any study with imaging paid for by research funds. The C-TRIC PET/CT scanner is capable of both human and large animal imaging. For information on utilizing this state-of-the-art scanner for human studies, contact the Department of Radiology Research Coordinator. To learn more about large animal imaging, contact Dr. Natalie Serkova.


 

The Quantitative Image Analysis (QIA) Lab can provide assistance if you require central radiology review services, need guidance on imaging protocols or have questions about analysis techniques and capabilities.

The Department of Radiology welcomes opportunities for collaborative research.  We strongly encourage principal investigators and study coordinators to involve radiology at the beginning of the protocol and budget approval process.  This helps ensure that the appropriate professional and technical services are available for your study, minimizing any delays in startup. 

 

The protocol review process begins with the submission of the Radiology Protocol Submission eForm. You will need a UCD login and password to access this site. If you are not a part of the University system, please complete and e-mail this Excel version of the Radiology Protocol Submission Form to the Research Coordinator.

 

As part of the review, your protocol and study documents will be reviewed for feasibility and pricing. The length of the review depends on the complexity of the study. Most studies only require review by the Research Coordinator, whereas a complex study could include review by a Physicist, a Radiologist, and several Radiology Technologists.

 

 

All imaging sites at UCH are ACR accredited through June of 2015. Imaging equipment at UCH and C-TRIC includes:

 

Imaging protocol and analysis guidance for research studies is available through the Quantitative Image Analysis Laboratory.

Our Department supports several tumor response criteria for cancer trials. These technical measurement techniques are integrated into our clinical workflow. The following tumor response criteria analyses are currently supported by our Faculty:
